Media & Public Affairs Bureau

The Media and Public Affairs Bureau of the Israel Ministry of Defense (IMOD) represents the Ministry in its interactions with the media. It provides the public with relevant, comprehensive information regarding all aspects of the Ministry's extensive activities across various domains.

The Bureau is a key partner in shaping the IMOD’s policies and is responsible for developing media strategy and communication plans while enhancing public trust. The Bureau plans and implements the Ministry's media policy, providing strategic advisory, communications expertise, and image management services.

The division initiates and distributes articles on a wide range of topics, including the development of Israel's multi-layered defense systems, high-powered laser development, procurement, and military buildup, defense exports, IDF's southern relocation, support for bereaved families, disabled veterans, discharged soldiers, and recruits, and security-diplomatic cooperation with numerous countries.

Main Objectives and Activities

1.     Leading media coverage of major events in Israeli and international media. 

2.     Initiating, writing, and distributing press releases, coordinating senior official interviews, responding to journalist inquiries, conducting comprehensive research, and briefing reporters.

3.     Managing and initiating content strategy and public information campaigns. 

4.     Coordinating interfaces with public and government bodies, handling internal communications while supporting Ministry activities and units, managing information campaigns, and operating the Public Inquiries and Complaints Unit.

5.     Serving as the central address connecting the public with the Ministry to handle all activities related to public inquiries and complaints. 

6.   Providing information to external entities following the Freedom of Information Act of 1998 and publishing required reports under this law.
