Policy & Political-Military Bureau
The Political-Military Bureau is a central agency within the Israel Ministry of Defense (IMOD) and broader defense establishment. It is responsible for planning and executing strategic defense policy. The head of the Political-Military Bureau reports to the Director General and participates in key political-military discussions with the Defense Minister.

The Bureau leads strategic meetings between the Defense Minister, the Director General, and global counterparts and collaborates with relevant agencies within the IMOD, IDF, Israeli government ministries, and the intelligence community. Its purpose is to identify and analyze risks and opportunities in the political-military domain across regional and international arenas, formulate policy recommendations on strategic security issues, and guide and manage the defense establishment's foreign relations.
The Bureau provides policy recommendations and guidance in four key areas
1. Strategic defense challenges facing Israel.
2. Foreign relations and cooperation with international allies and counterparts.
3. Political dimensions of export control policy.
4. Arms control policies, treaties, and international regimes.
The Bureau is organized into the following working groups
· Strategic Policy and Planning (Palestinian arena, Northern arena, Regional policy, Security concepts, Sensitive issues).
· Defense Foreign Relations (Strategic dialogues, Cooperation initiatives, International organizations, Arab affairs, Desks for the US, Europe, Latin America, Asia, and Africa).
· Defense Exports and International Conventions (Arms control, Export policy, Treaties).
· VIP Visits and Ceremonies Management.
