Over $3B in Domestic Procurement Since Start of 2026: IMOD Director General Marks One Month of Operation Roaring Lion with Defense Industry Leadership

Marking one month since the launch of Operation Roaring Lion, Israel Ministry of Defense (IMOD) Director General Maj. Gen. (Res.) Amir Baram held a situational assessment and lessons-learned discussion with the CEOs of Israel’s leading defense companies - Rafael, Israel Aerospace Industries (IAI), Elbit Systems, and Tomer.

Senior Ministry officials also took part in the discussion, which reviewed the extensive measures undertaken to accelerate production across the defense industries and sustain the IDF’s operational endurance and continuity.

Addressing the industry leaders, the Director General stated: “We deeply value your full mobilization. From day one, the defense industries have been operating at peak capacity - running double and triple shifts around the clock. Our ecosystem, one of a kind globally, brings together the IDF, the defense industry, and the Defense Ministry, enabling the rapid transfer of weapon systems from the production line to the battlefield in a matter of hours, while incorporating real-time lessons and continuous improvements. Our strategic priority now is clear: munitions independence for the State of Israel, and developing the next surprises. Since the start of the year, leading up to and throughout Operation Lion’s Roar, we have placed over $3 billion (over NIS 10 billion) in domestic defense procurement.“
