Israel MOD Head of DDR&D inducted into the U.S. National Academy of Engineering

The Israel Ministry of Defense (IMOD) is proud to announce that Brig. Gen. (Res.) Dr. Daniel Gold, Head of the Directorate of Defense Research & Development (DDR&D), has been inducted into the U.S. National Academy of Engineering (NAE) Class of 2025 as one of 22 new international members. Dr. Gold was formally inducted during the NAE Annual Meeting in October, following his election announcement in February.

Dr. Gold was recognized for his outstanding contributions and leadership in defense research, practice, and technological innovation, particularly in the development and deployment of advanced missile defense systems. The NAE election recognizes engineers who have made exceptional contributions to engineering research and education while pioneering new fields of technology and making major advancements in established engineering disciplines.

Election to the NAE is among the highest professional distinctions accorded to an engineer globally. This prestigious appointment reflects the groundbreaking technological achievements of Israel's defense establishment and highlights the strong scientific cooperation between Israel and the United States. This premier engineering institution's recognition represents a significant honor for the State of Israel.
